About the author

Charlotte Vardy (née Fowler) is a speaker, author and educationalist specialising in theology and philosophy. After completing a degree in theology from Oxford, she gained a PGCE (Secondary RS) from Cambridge and a MA in philosophy and religion from London University (with distinction). She worked as a tutor in philosophy at the University of London from 2004 to 2011.

An experienced RS teacher, Charlotte was head of department and latterly director of studies at leading secondary schools before moving into organising and speaking at conferences around the world for students and teachers of RS and theory of knowledge for the International Baccalaureate.  She has worked as an adviser for the interfaith Coexist Foundation, the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, CTVC and the Cambridge Interfaith Programme and with the online publisher Microbooks and was elected secretary of the Oxford Conference in Education in 2008.

Last year events in philosophy and ethics which Charlotte organised in England attracted 7,000 students. She is the author of notes and teaching resources that are used by most RS departments in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and is currently working on a toolkit of resources for Coexist Clubs across the USA, co-authoring The Puzzle of Moral Philosophy with her husband Peter.
